    <description>&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; I have tow ds server in defernt location with openvms 7.2 .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; tcpip show version&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; if there is any way to transfer data between servers&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; "data"?&amp;nbsp; Files?&amp;nbsp; Files where file attributes are important?&amp;nbsp; There&lt;BR /&gt;are many ways.&amp;nbsp; FTP, NFS, RCP, SCP, ...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; i am use copy/ftp . but i need another way to transfer data [...]&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Why?&amp;nbsp; What's the problem with COPY/FTP?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; can i use backup command throw network .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; That might depend on what your "backup command" would be doing.&amp;nbsp; It&lt;BR /&gt;is possible to use DECnet over IP, and that might help.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;A href="https://community.hpe.com/t5/x/x/td-p/7042709" target="_blank"&gt;https://community.hpe.com/t5/x/x/td-p/7042709&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt; RCP didnt work at my system&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; tcpip show version&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; "didn[']t work" is not a useful problem description.&amp;nbsp; It does not say&lt;BR /&gt;what you did.&amp;nbsp; It does not say what happened when you did it.&amp;nbsp; As usual,&lt;BR /&gt;showing actual actions (commands, code, ...) with their actual results&lt;BR /&gt;(error messages, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or&lt;BR /&gt;interpretations.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; 1- how ictiveate RCP , and how using it&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;#8; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;@ SYS$MANAGER:TCPIP$CONFIG.COM&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;gt; 2- which beter use RCP or copy/rcp.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Define "better".&amp;nbsp; Is there a significant difference?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Dears,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have tow ds server in defernt location with openvms 7.2 .&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;if there is any way to transfer data between servers&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;i am use copy/ftp . but i need another way to transfer data from disk in server1 to the same disk in server2&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;can i use backup command throw network .&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;thanks.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;BACKUP can be reliably used over the network.&amp;nbsp; The BACKUP command will only allow you to reference a backup saveset on the remote system (not individual files).&amp;nbsp; BACKUP does NOT have an option to use TCPIP rather than DECNET.&amp;nbsp; If you are not able to access the remote system via DECNET (e.g. DIRECTORY command, or SET HOST command), you would need to configure the systems to use DECNET over IP.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I use a procedure to create a snapshot of a production system and make a copy for a hot standby system.&amp;nbsp; I do this by doing a "backup/image/ignore=interlock sys$sysdevice:&amp;nbsp; hostname::disk:[backup]backup.bck/sav".&amp;nbsp; Then I do a "submit/remote command.com" to restore the backup saveset on the remote system to an alternate boot drive.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
