> Do you know someone from our organization who has worked on OpenVMS
> for doing health checkups on Itanium servers?

   Huh? What is "our organization"?

If you have some actual interest in OpenVMS, then you should start
your own new thread with a question which makes some sense, rather than
joining this noise-thread, whose actual purpose was to exhibit those
junk links under trxt copied from:

      https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/402nne/learning_openvms/

This whole thread should be removed by a moderator.

Learning OpenVMS?

We recently acquired a piece of research equipment that is operated by two servers running OpenVMS 8.4. Honestly, prior to this device's arrival, I didn't even know this OS existed. Another admin dealt with the initial setup, but now I am being tasked with managing it. Does anyone here have any advice on how to learn how to manage this? Are there any resources on this still out there?

I have found only basic help files that describe commands. If there are any other kind of how-to's or resources you know of I'd really appreciate it!

There is still some things out there on the web but you could quickly get buried and lost in documents when all you really need is some basic information: How to boot and shutdown, basic things to keep an eye on, basic place to look for troubleshooting, etc.

My recommendation would be to hire someone to spend a few days with you going through the systems making sure to take good notes. There are more than a few people on this forum who could do this. Full disclosure, our firm can be hired for an engagement like this. I believe my contact information is publicly available in my profile on this site.

Good luck.
