USB Flash Drive - Removing

I have connected a USB flash drive to an Integrity server running OpenVMS 8.3. It has
been initialized and mounted. After dismounting it I would like to unplug it. Is there a VMS command or utility that should be run prior to unplugging the drive (similar to Windows)?

I'm not authoritative on this, but I believe
that DISMOUNT is all you need.

As I recall, the thing you do on Windows
serves the same purpose as DISMOUNT, that is,
to flush any cached data to the device, and
leave it quiescent and ready-to-yank.

Windows can automatically sense the device
and MOUNT it (or equivalent) when it's been
connected, but it's harder to read the user's
mind to determine when he's through with the
thing.

After dismounting the device, its lights continue to flash. Does it matter that the lights have not turned off?

Knowing nothing, I'd assume that's the result
of the USB$UCM_SERVER (or somebody)
periodically probing the USB to look for
configuration changes. (What's the flash
frequency?)

Once the thing's been dismounted, the data on
it should be pretty safe, at least from any
molestation by VMS.
