In case noone else knows what Richard is talking about (I didn't):

http://tinyurl.com/4whryap

"Synopsis ASX has identified a software issue associated with the allocation of internal identification numbers for series created intra day," the ASX statement on Tuesday said.

"The issue created a duplication of internal series numbers which impacted a component of the ASX Trade system and subsequently ceased dissemination of trade confirmation messages."

"All impacted trade executions remain valid."

Art

ASX uses Genium on a Linux platform since november 2010. Nothing to do with OpenVMS in a good nor bad way. Surely it is just as easy to make a similar application level mistake when running on OpenVMS. (Unless it was about an object in a cluster which under OpenVMS would have been under lock manager control :-).

http://www.techworld.com.au/article/378211/asx_identifies_software_glitch/

Hein
