BridgeWorks Cannot allocate Locate Request message No valid protocol found

We are getting the message "com.hp.bwx.BwxConnectException: ERROR: Cannot allocate Locate Request message No valid protocol found" when running the tutorial from the `BridgeWorks documnetation. We tried running it on a singel node on the Alpha. VMS version 7.3, Bridgeworks 3.0. The JavaBeans part of the tutorial was used. THe troubleshooting guide does not have anything about this error. What have we done wrong or not set up properly?

This turns out to be an error in specifying the transport. It says that a node name is ok in the tcp/ip specification, but it really wants the full ip address.
