New qualifier for SUBMIT

Hi all,

Can any of you folks tell me where on HP's web site one can ask for a new VMS feature? I was talking to one of our programmers about the SYNCHRONIZE command when we realized that a /SYNCHRONIZE qualifier on the SUBMIT command might be handy.

SUBMIT has been storing the job's entry number in the symbol "$ENTRY" for a long time. You can easily do a:

$ SYNCHRONIZE /ENTRY='$ENTRY

Although as noted in the prior response, SYNCH/ENTRY='$entry' should be sufficient.

Using the SYNCHRONIZE command would require modifying a command procedure. If you had a /SYNCHRONIZE qualifier you wouldn't need to do that.

Wrong. You don't have that qualifier today, so you cannot make use of it now. If it became available, you had to change your procedures as well.

And for new procedures it's no big deal either if you use a qualifier or the SYNCHRONIZE command.
