I am trying to get bookreader running from a PC. I have mounted the disk with the bookreader files. I run the setup.exe there, and get an error message of "Setup failed to launch installation engine" - Class not registered. This is on an XP PRo Sp1 system.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is, and how to fix it...

Mister Q

Mister Q
CD-ROm with bookreader is created with VMS format, you can´t read this CD directly on a XP system.
You can mount CD on VMS system and read it from PC using for example a xterm emulation (if VMS system has runnig DECwindows) and executing a dwbookreader on X emulation.
Saludos, Danie

Daniel, thanks, but I beg to differ... Have a look at

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/odl/

Now, that doesn't mention XP, and the people that I work with that have no problem getting it to work, are running XP systems that were upgraded from 2K, whereas mine as a clean install...

Mister Q

Indeed, I haven't had a chance to check, but I was using the setup.exe off the CD that we have mounted. Not sure if they are the latest (DEcember). Will check when in the office in the morning.

THe fact that the above mentioned URL indicates that there may e a new version of the application, may also be promising.

Q
