Ian, thanks for the pointers to the older versions.

I forgot to mention that we also need to run SOAP V2.0 which claims to work all the way back to V7.2-2. In a development and testing environment, which we are sort of, it doesn't necessarily need CSWS or CSWS_JAVA, but here we would have to have eventually to deploy our code.

We can't update yet to V7.3-whatever because our deployed systems all run V7.3 and it takes a long time to get approval, and test it thoroughly, get it scheduled. And our environment doesn't favor updates because of all the testing (on our end) and downtime (on the customer end) required. There are quite a few systems involved, though I don't know the exact number.

We are also aware that V7.3 isn't supported, but it's been stable enough for our application. We were running it unpatched until a few months back.

Are there older versions of CSWS and CSWS_JAVA that will run under VMS V7.3? Or is there some underlying limitation with that version of VMS?

If this is possible maybe one of the HP folks can point me to distributions of these products.

Thanks,

Galen

There might be older versions floating around...

But, the biggest problem is the difference in UNIX like features found in V7.3 vs 7.3-2 - it is significant and will likely affect how well the products run on V7.3.

Is there a reason you can't upgrade to the "-2" release (VMS 7.3-2)? You do realize that VMS 7.3 is no longer supported?

Regards,

Brad

I guess you know where SOAP is
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/ips/soap/soap.html

I think you need to start the process creeping towards V7.3-2 as this version is on long term support.
Judging from the software requirements I found at the link Ian posted, it looks like SOAP V2.0 can handle Java 1.3.1 okay.

I also found out there that SOAP V2.0 has only been tested against CSWS_JAVA V1.2 and higher, so the trick might be whether it will work with CSWS_JAVA V1.1.

Our developer says that we don't need the advanced features added in SOAP V2.0 (whatever they may be) and that V1.x would do. Was this released for VMS?

Thanks for your help,

Galen

Now it just depends on our application, and perhaps on the version of SOAP toolkit.
