rx2600 USB mouse disappears

I have an rx2600, vms 8.2-1, latest patches.
The mouse regularly quits working, sometimes i can un-plug the usb cable and plug it back in and it starts working. Other times i have to reboot VMS. REAL waste of time. Is this a usb driver issue? This has been the same with all 3 versions of VMS that I have had on this rx2600.

Is your firmware up to date ?
Find 2nd occurence of rx2600 in http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/82FINAL/6676/ba322-90033.pdf

Are you using a specific software when it goes wrong ?

I'm just using the default X Motif with terminal windows. It looks like my system firmware is the latest.
system fw : 2.31
MP fw : E.03.13
BMC fw : 1.52
EFI fw : 1.22

I have the 8.2-1 official DVD distribution.
Is the firmware disc now labeled 'Operating Environments Update'???

There is newer MP firmware (not relevent to this but you may be interested)

Latest firmware is
System Firmware 02.31, BMC Firmware 01.53

Release notes don't mention a problem like yours but it may help.

Thanks Ian, I had seen the notes on the BMC and MP firmware updates. I don't think they are relevant, and they are a PAIN to update.
I'm trying a THIRD mouse today and so far I've had zero failures.....I'm beginning to think the first 2 mice were flaky. Interestingly this mouse is a Microsoft optical. The last 2 were Compaq optical.

I find using the ISO image download that contains all the system, BMC and MP firmware the most straigtforward way. Its a lot easier than trying to get the ftp firmware method to work.

You may be on to something with using a different mouse.

Good news. It seems to have been 2 bad mice. Since changing to a 3rd mouse I have had NO TROUBLE.
