Why DecWin can not startup on Console when system startup?

Why decwin can not startup on console when my system startup?

but after system startup,i login system in Command line and run @sys$startup:decw$startup.com with no errors,
when i logout,the decwin startup normal on my cosnole?

In SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM there is a line:

$!$ DEFINE DECW$IGNORE_DECWINDOWS TRUE

Be sure this IS a comment (as shown) If DECW$IGNORE_DECWINDOWS is set to TRUE, it won't start automatically but you will be able to do it manually (as you found out)

If you are in front of Opa0: during the boot, or if you startup log is stored in the file sys$system:startup.log, you should have some details, error messages to share with us.

see
$ mc sysman start set option
to get a log of the startup, and put a
$ set verify
before invoking decw$startup.

Which OpenVMS and DECwindows versions ?

Depending on OpenVMS version, you may not get much out of a start-up logfile because a defect in the DECwindows command files disabled output to the logfile. This was corrected for 7.3-2.

From the start-up that did not produce DECwindows look to see if there is a SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG file created and if it is look for any errors that will explain.

Search SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM for any settings of DECW$* logicals.

Normaly (with graphic) this should be 2.

Sorry, the WINDOW_SYSTEM should be 1.
I don't know where the 2 came from ..... slip of the finger .... it must be friday or something.
