After upgradation LAN problem...

Hi friends,

we have four alpha nodes running through MC and ethernet LAN cluster. Last week we have upgraded one node from open VMS 7.3-2 to open vms 8.3. After the upagradation activity that node not in a LAN cluster only communicate via MC.

Whether i have to run the cluster_config_lan.com during upgradation or not?

i did'nt run that during upgradation?
Can anyone tell me what is the exact problem?...

when I put the sh clus/con and add circuit/all
that node only show MC other shows MC and LAN.

I also checked with SCACP>> sh circuits

It does'nt show the ethernet circuits. that upgraded node shows...

I know nothing, but someone who does might
wish to know more (that is, anything) about
the hardware involved. "alpha node" is not a
very useful description of the system or of
its network interfaces. Does SHOW DEVICE
show the network interface devices? Does
VMS V8.3 support this hardware configuration?

Upgraded node is DS20E and other nodes are two ES40 and one Es45.

That's a start. What network hardware?
Built-in interfaces, PCI cards, what?

Did you think that I didn't care?

you find the SPD?

Or did you expect to get a solution without
providing any useful information?

Pls. check the SYSGEN parameter NISCS_LOAD_PEA0.
Maybe it got 'lost' during the upgrade, which may happen e.g. if your MODPARAMS.DAT doesn't correctly reflect your parameters (some changes usig SYSGEN directly?).
Just a wild guess, but a start...

To enable cluster communication over LAN you should enable it (1). The question remains, what other parameters might have get lost during the AUTOGEN of the upgrade.
Pls. review the file SYS$SYSTEM:AGEN$PARAMS.REPORT for hints.
