Hello,

On our OpenVMS V7.3-2 system with ACMS V4.5 we've installed VMS-CHECK-utility. This util checks if file sys$startup:acms$pidfile.dat exists.

we have about 20 systems running ACMS, but only 1 system contains this file.
The file seems to be binairy, with records of 96 bytes. Each record seems to begin with a pid, but these pids don't seems to exists anymore. The file was created on 18-jan-2008 and is never updated.

VMS_CHECK procceses it and generates a HTML-file, which contains also rubbish.

Can someone answer the following:
1. For what pupose is this file used?
2. Is this file essential? (guess not).
3. can you delete is savely (the 1 system is a production machine (heh heh) )

Thx in advance....

Henk

You should drop an email to Kostas, who maintains vms_check, to let him know.

His email is in the Vms_check tool
