    <description>No, VMS backup can't write to CD-ROM (or even CDR).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Even if it could, unless you had a really small disk, you would have to keep changing CDR media.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you are short on cash, get a used DLT drive on E-bay.  I wouldn't consider anything less than a DLT-7000 for a server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jon&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>If it's for ongoing backups, I would also consider buying an used tapedrive.&lt;BR /&gt;For a one-shot you may try to backup over DECnet to another VMS node (saveset may reside on other nodes), or backup to a saveset on another disk and copy it to another system (and burn it to DVD...).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards Kalle</description>
