HP doesn't *usually* remove support for working devices particularly the more modern ones. I'd definitely log a call with HP and I'd recommend you start by asking for the OpenVMS backline or level 2 support. In fact, insist on speaking with them and try not to get redirected. If the problem isn't known then the folks working your case might need to engage other resources.<BR /><BR />Just curious...have you or has anyone checked the SPD to see if that tape unit was supported officially on previous Alpha releases? If this turned out to be a "it just worked magically" situation without official support then you might have trouble getting a resolution. Of course there is the possibility that some driver change late in the release cycle might have gotten missed during the build and testing of V8.4, hence what amounts to a support regression. The customer did not selct OpenVMS.
