We have running an MSA2312 on an Alpha DS10 with really no Problems. But this does not work with OpenVMS 8.4.
There are any Changes in V84. with the Fibre Channel?
Using from sys$etc Fibre_scan.exe can see the MSA2312fc but no Devices will be shown.
What is differened from V8.2 (V8.3) to V8.4?

You would be best working with HP Support for this sort of issue

I'm with Ian. HP doesn't *usually* remove support for working devices particularly the more modern ones. I'd definitely log a call with HP and I'd recommend you start by asking for the OpenVMS backline or level 2 support. In fact, insist on speaking with them and try not to get redirected. If the problem isn't known then the folks working your case might need to engage other resources.

Just curious...have you or has anyone checked the SPD to see if that tape unit was supported officially on previous Alpha releases? If this turned out to be a "it just worked magically" situation without official support then you might have trouble getting a resolution. Of course there is the possibility that some driver change late in the release cycle might have gotten missed during the build and testing of V8.4, hence what amounts to a support regression. How long has that tape been working?

bob

Just to clarify the DS10 running OpenVMS V8.3 was connected to the MSA2312 was working and when you upgraded to OpenVMS V8.4 it stopped working?

Or is it different hardware running OpenVMS V8.4
