Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

For an Open VMS Developer, what are all the certifications available? and which one is the basic to start with. I'm currently dealing with VMS COBOL, DCL, Datatrieve, Oracle RDB, CMS, PCA, Monitor etc.,

At the HP Certification web site I can't see any developer specific certifications. There are HP Operating system certifications

What sort of thing are you looking for and what benefits do you think you will gain?

Ian,

I'm looking for a basic certification in VMS so that I can learn things from the Scrap. I did lot of Googling on VMS concepts, but I could not understand most of the terms used.

Also, as a developer we do not have access to execute most of the VMS commands used. Hence I need some kind of Guidelines from where to start.

Google - The Minimum You Need to Know to Be An OpenVMS Application Developer.

There is actually an excellent book with that name! I highly recommend it. Find it and buy it. I think the author actually has a web site.

As well as any language specific reference and runtime manuals and whatever editor and code management/build/profiling/regression testing tools you will be using (I prefer the DECset tools myself).
