topic nedit & nfs mounts in Operating System - OpenVMS

A user is unable to use the graphical editor nedit to edit files across an nfs mount.
Details:
Client side: VMS 7.3-1, fully patched, nedit v5.1.1, utilizing TCPware v5.5 for nfs mount
Server (Destination): Tru64 V5.1B fully patched
Details: A Tru64 server is exporting a disk. VMS nfs mounts the disk. The user wants to edit files on the exported disk from the VMS side. TPU has no problems editing; however, the user likes nedit - which does not work.
Is there another graphical editor that would work .or. is this a failure of nedit .or. is the exported disk nfs mounted incorrectly? Command: nfsmount <SERVER> "/data" nfs1: data /label=nfs_data /lock</SERVER>

Hello Jeff,

The mount command seems to be correct but you can satisfy yourself by entering

$ nfsmount/show nfs1: /full

Would I be correct in assuming that this is the first time that you have attempted to use NEDIT? If so, it may be worth re-installing NEDIT again and checking for any error or warning messages. Your particular version of NEDIT appears to be a bit old. I think that version 5.5 is available but I am not sure whether it includes OpenVMS.

You could also place a security audit on NEDIT and check what happens.

Regards,

Ian
