IA64 / Pascal - AXP Environmentfile OSIT.PEN

OpenVMS 8.2-1 delivers an invalid PEN File on Itanium.

The environmentfile OSIT.PEN is an AXP / Alpha environment file (and no IA64 file). The PASCAL Compile "crashes" with an internal error when this file is inherited.

Simple recompile solves the problem of course.

Correct diagnosis and correct workaround. (also demonstrats an excellent example of a compiler diagnostic explaining EXACTLY what's wrong)

Please log a case with your local customer support centre to formally report this fault.

Hi John,

Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm not able to log a case as this is restricted to our system management. And as far as I know I cannot log a case directly without an valid contract numeber - something I do not get from the management.
I tried to convince sysmgrs to log a case since app. 3 months when I detected this problem the first time :-(.

So I hope that either some HP technican reads the problem and logs / solves this directla or that at least other customers are aware of the problem.

This PEN file does not come with OpenVMS or with Pascal. I suspect it is part of the DECnet Phase V kit? It isn't on my Itanium box but I run just Phase IV.

This report will need to be sent along to the DECnet folks. I'll do that.

More info:

OSIT.PEN comes from the DECnet-Plus kit.

I just verified that for OpenVMS V8.3, the DECnet-Plus kit has been fixed to provide a PEN file compiled by the correct compiler.
