MMS and case sensitivity

Hi Folks,

Have the issues with MMS and case sensitivity been resolved yet? I know there have been a couple of threads in this area with the hint that fixes may been due in 2009.

Anyway, MMS is unable to find known targets for:

module_1.PEN

Where module_1.PEN is described as:

MODULE_1.OBJ, MODULE_2.PEN DEPENDS_ON -
MODULE_1.PAS

The session used to do the build is set up as:

PARSE=TRADTIONAL
CASE=BLIND

Is this the expected behaviour or is it still broken? I can get round the problem by upper-casing all of the entries in the MMS file.

Its a bit of a pain because previously working MMS files (relying on it all being case insensitive) suddenly stop working.

MMS /IDENTIFICATION

_what_?

It's been a while since I had case problems
with MMS, but I don't know if that's because
MMS has improved, or because I changed all my
description files to accommodate MMS
limitations. My impression was that recent
versions do better with ODS5.

The latest DECset ECO kits on the FTP server
are full product kits. If you're several
versions behind, the remedy could be pretty
simple.

For a change we're about current

mms/id gives

%MMS-I-IDENT, MMS V3.9-00 Â© Copyright 2009 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

Apparently DecSet 12.8 ECO 2.

OpenVMS version is 8.3-1H1.

Hi,
Tim Sneddon has incorporated my changes into MMK (V4.1).

If you want case sensitivity, use that version of MMK instead of MMS.
I have reported this issue with MMS to engineering, but I'm still waiting for an answer.

This query is a good candidate to be sent to HP via the following email address
OpenVMS.Programs@hp.com

As the problem is already reported, you might want to check its status using the
above email address.

Mandar has been quite quick with repsonses so far, so I'll see what transpires and keep you all up to date.

Its not a pressing problem, just a minor annoyance.

The official response is:

"This was not prioritized currently because of v8.4 release related activities. It would help if you can log a support call with HP so that we can track this better."

Which is fair enough. Perhaps things may start moving.

Yes. Logging a support call is the way to go.
This way the problem would get tracked to closure.

Just an update from the support case, wonder if this means a bit of head scratching is going on?

"CMS engineering is investigating which parts of CMS are suffering the lowercase problem and what modifications are needed."

More may be needed, especially if they're
investigating CMS, when the complaint was
about MMS.

way back in Dec 2007 a co-worker had some MMS problems with case sensitivity and Case 3218912656 was logged ... the last thing I recall getting was:

You did not specify what "new" kit, but if you are referring to MMS V3.9 (from the DECSET 12.8 ECO 2 kit), it just does not work (yet).
