In a random way and frequently when I make from anyone of our different HPUX a rcp or/and a remsh to OpenVMS V7.1-2 server a return code different from zero its generated. As I have indicated in previous cases, I ignore VMS, I am administrating HPUX. I have been able to solve this in batch's procedures creating a repetitive cycle until the return code is equal to zero, and whenever it happens some error, to the second intent it is able to be successful. Perhaps some tuning parameter or patch that can be applied to correct this issue.

Another important aspect is any file that tries to send via rcp from VMS to HPUX seems that made it in ascii mode and not in binary mode. Does some way that guarantees that a rcp is done in binary mode?

Thks in advance

Jose,
I am not sure on whether you could use multi RCP to send a file from VMS - HPUX by restricting the remote copy to binary means.

How ever, if i were you, i would simply use FTP :) as the FTP on VMS is no different from others.

Just in case you find difficulty with VMS, here is the syntax, please excuse me if you are not naive to VMS :))

VMS Node > FTP <HPUX node="">
HPUX Node FTP>binary
HPUX Node FTP>put/get (to and fro transfer)

regards
Mobeen</HPUX>

Hi Jose,
I never used rcp so I can't understand details of your trouble. remember return code in vms code has different meaning from HP-UX.
Can you explain how you work on vms?
For transefer file, if you haven't security problem you can use ftp as posted before this one.

@Antoniov
Thks everybody,

There really is not a precise answer to my issue that is with multinet RCP, as HPUX's SysAdmin I know perfectly the kindness and defects between RCP and FTP to transfer files, the problem here is that an enormous quantity of procedures developed in VMS that doesn't interest me to change drastically, I just look to improve them. However thank you for your interest and I keep awaiting some precise answer.

Rgds.

Jose,

I do not have a direct answer to your question, but if you have a Multinet support contract, the people there should be able to answer your question. They have always been most helpful and courteous whenever I have needed assistance with a Multinet problem. The Technical Support address is:

http://www.process.com/techsupport/multinet.html
