Dear All

I have two rp8400 server with two LAN cards
one is primary and one is standby for each server.as shown in attachment drawing

i configure an IP address for the primary card.

i have 3 questions :

1. How i can make the configration for the client so they can access the servers without knowing it's real IP Address by using virtual ip address?

2. AS show in picture how i can make two virtual ip address for each client in case one of the virtual has problem the client can switch to the second virtual ip?

3. In case the primary card or it's connection is going down how i can make the standby configration so it can take over primary IP address?

Sorry, our security servers forbid me to open the attachement. But maybe this can help you.

ifconfig WE0 alias 128.231.1.1 to add.
ifconfig WE0 -alias 128.231.1.1 to remove.
ifconfig -a to show.
(tcpip 5+)

It allows to add multiple addresses as card synonyms. Never tested it deeply but it seemed to work.

I use this for accessing different webs via my (single) NIC and works fine...
