Hi!

I have two Cisco routers (A and B) attached to one ethernet segment.
IP 192.168.125.14/24 on router A interface and IP 192.168.125.15/24 on router B interface. Router B also has another interface with IP 10.10.2.2

When I send a broadcast ping (192.168.125.255) to the network 192.168.125.0/24 I get also an ICMP reply from 10.10.2.2 interface.

>ping 192.168.125.255
....................................
64 bytes from 10.10.2.2: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=2.471 ms
.....................................

Non-broadcast ping however gets normal result.

Does anyone know why other router's interfaces reply to this bradcast ping ?

Thanx.

Gaxx,

Is this an OpenVMS question? If so, what implementation & version of TCP/IP are you using? (try $ TCPIP SHOW VERSION).

If OpenVMS is not involved, you may be better off asking Cisco.
