On OpenVMS V7.3 with UCX V5.0A ECO3 the above command returned the "I/O completed" as well as the "Bytes Transferred" both for RECEIVE and SEND for a given UCX connection.

We upgraded on UCX V5.4 ECO 2 and now the above command returns always ZERO "I/O completed" and ZERO "Bytes Transferred".

How can we have an indication about I/O for a given UCX connection? We are using this indicator in order to kill IDLE connections. Now we have a problem.

Thanks in advance

George,

To begin with:

Welcome to the VMS forum!

The current ECO level for UCX 5.4 is 4.
I do not directly know what has been changed, but there were some bug repairs.

At least you could check the release notes.
One location to do that is WWW.OPENVMS.ORG

Success.

Proost.

Have one on me.

jpe

First of all, THANKS for your replies, but we still have the same problem.

We upgraded to UCX V5.4 ECO 4 but still the command "UCX SHOW DEV bg6961 /FULL " returns ZERO "I/O completed" and ZERO "Bytes Transferred".

I observed that, if the BGxxxx session is created via ORACLE enterprise manager (NOT TELNET) installed on a Windows XP pc the above command works OK and returns the ACTUAL "I/O completed" and "Bytes transferred".

On the contrary when the BGxxxx session is created via TELNET, I have ZERO "I/O completed" and ZERO "Bytes Transferred".

Can anybody give me a hint?

I have TCPIP 5.3 eco 2 and I'm not going to upgrade.

I verified TELNET sessions bg devices and found 0 bytes transferred and 0 IO completed for all devices.

So there is a problem.

Wim

I believe the latest 5.4 version eco level for TCPIP services is ECO 5.

TCPIP> sho ver

HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Alpha Version V5.4 - ECO 5
on a AlphaServer 4100 5/400 4MB running OpenVMS V7.3-2

Noticed the ZERO "I/O completed" and ZERO "Bytes Transferred" as well.

Dave...

I verified that ONLY telnet sessions return ZERO in VMS 7.3-2, UCX V5.4 ECO 4.

FTP, RLOGIN and other sessions return nonZERO values for "I/O completed" and "Bytes transferred".

Probably some kind of configuration for the TELNET service could be the trick. But what is this?
