Didier,

I think most of us would appreciate it to be downloadable, whether hobbyist or professional (I'm both), but I guess you'll need a big pipe to get it. IMHO HP would have the wisdom to make the media available for a reasonable price, since you _do_ have a license (even as a hobbyist) I think you should be able to purchase a copy (for it's the license that counts)
Or get in contact with a professional....

The problem is:

I'm both too
I do have a "big pipe" (1Mb)
HP conducted a survey a few months ago on this very subject. I do not know yet whether they decided to make the CD available on line or not.

D.

I forgot about the SW use change. I'm a Hobbyist for ages and for a long time we were not allowed to use "regular" distribution kits but the Hobbyist CD only.

This changed a few months (years?) ago but I just forgot when I typed my previous message in. Sorry for that.

Thanks, Ian.

D.

Isn't it the LICENSE that counts? Without a license you won't be able to use VMS (or any layered product) usefully. So I don't get the point why borrowing a CD would be a problem. AFAIK the hobbyist license doesn't say anything on what VMS version is is valid for, nor which media you're allowed to use.
Hopefully HP will com with a suitable solution FAST....

Beta testers for V7.3-2 will be able to download the final kit sometime next month, according to an email I received from HP.

You don't need a really big pipe -- the whole beta was only 4 CD's. I anticipate the final will be about the same size.
