Please let me know how safe is it to upgrade vms 7.1 running on VAX 4000-700A,to vax vms 7.3.
Please also mention any issues regarding vax hardware compatibility over vax vms 7.3

It is as safe as any other upgrade: first make a system disk (standalone) backup, read the Upgrade and installation manual , then go on.

In fact, there is nothing prohibiting the upgrade.
VMS 7.3 is the actual (last ?) VMS version for Vax.
After the upgrade, look into HP ITRC website to get updates and patches for 7.3

It occurs to me you could:

a) read the release notes

b) get some VMS training

Or do you work for an HP support center?
