Setting a DECnet Alias

Hi,

I need to reset DECnet alias in NCP. Have defined the alias, but when I attempt to set it I receive the following error:

NCP>SET EXECUTOR ALIAS NODE alpha1

%NCP-W-COMSTA, Component in wrong state, Node

Dennis,

I suspect the executor needs to be STATE OFF to define an alias. Try:

NCP> DEFINE EXECUTOR ALIAS NODE alpha1

this should define the alias so that it's active next time DECnet is started. (Note you would need to do this anyway as SET EXEC by itself is volatile)

Better still, execute NETCONFIG, answer the questions about cluster alias and let it figure out the details.

Thank you John. I was able to define it,
but it just wouldn't set. I thought about running Netconfig, but will wait as this is Production. Thank you again.

Is alpha1 defined and set in the ncp database?

mc ncp show node alpha1
mc ncp list node alpha1
