FTP login incorrect

User is trying to FTP to an OpenVMS 7.1 system running UCX4.2 - ECO5. He is getting the message "530 Login Incorrect. %FTP-E-LOGREJ, Login request rejected". He has no trouble logging on via SET HOST or TELNET. Other user accounts work fine via FTP. There is no UCX proxy for this user.

There are no intrusion.

Any idea what the problem is?

Russ,

please check the UAF record for NETWORK access.
SET HOST and TELNET are REMOTE, INTERACTIVE accesses.
I would guess that a DIR :: would also be refused, since THAT is also NETWORK mode.

Can't explain it but the user deleted a null file from his home directory and all the sudden FTP is working.
