You'll want to stay reasonably current in PersonalAlpha versions -- if you're using something like 1.0.x where x < 15, it's time to upgrade.

1.1.4 is current, and 1.2 will be coming soon.

As a CHARON-AXP reseller [Shameless Plug Alert(tm)], thanks for using PersonalAlpha!

Hello everybody.

A special case.

I use personalalpha on a notebook. The notebook is connected to the internet using a wireless network interface. When using windows I can send email using the smtp server provided by my internet provider.

Is there a way to send an OpenVMS mail using the same smtp provider?

Thanks.

The emulated Alpha has access to the wireless network interface. I can do a telnet to another OpenVMS node on the netwerk via the wireless interface.

ps.
I created a cluster using the wifi interface. A two node cluster, one node connected via UTP, and the other one connected via wifi, so I called it a wireless cluster.

Piet,
I'm assuming you have configured & started TCP/IP on the personal workstation.
Make sure the SMTP server is known in either the TCPIP local host db of the personal alpha, and/or in its DNS server.
Then in TCPIP on the personal alpha, enable the SMTP service, and:
TCPIP> SET CONFIGURATION SMTP /GATEWAY=ALTERNATE=<NAME-OF-SERVER>
Start the SMTP service.
Success,
Kris (aka Qkcl)</NAME-OF-SERVER>
