INTERnet ACP AUXS failure

Hi all,
When I use RSH command to show device on remote hosts, I get "%RSH-E-FAILED,INTERnet ACP AUXS failure" error on both IA64 and Alpha server (OPENVMS V8.3)

I want to know what is the cause of this error and if there is a way to fix it.

I have no idea. As usual, it might help to
see the actual RSH command (and all of its
output). What happens if you try a similar
RSH command without the remote_command part?

The whole command is "RSH HST101/USER=NOP00/PASSWORD=NEWMANAGER SHOW DEVICE DSA321/UNIT=BYTE"

Are there any messages in OPERATOR.LOG? Does RSH function properly using other accounts? Is Username/password valid and is the account o.k. (not disusered, e.g.)?

A bad password could do this. Around here:

alp $ rsh /user = system /pass = wrong_pass alp "show def"
%RSH-E-FAILED, INTERnet ACP AUXS failure
tatus = %LOGIN-F-INVPWD
(from remote)

Sometimes I didn't get the "tatus" part of
the message:

alp $ rsh /us = sms /pass = wrong_pass alp "show def"
%RSH-E-FAILED, INTERnet ACP AUXS failure
(from remote)

(This is all such admirable code.)

For the record:

alp $ tcpip show vers

HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Alpha Version V5.4 - ECO 6
on a COMPAQ Professional Workstation XP1000 running OpenVMS V7.3-2

There's a lot to be said for TCPIP proxies,
which let you omit the /PASSWORD stuff.

tcpip help add proxy

Think ".rhosts", except the peons don't get
to make any decisions.
