And after you read the SPD and the documentation and Keith's presentations (and the clustering manuals), also consider chatting directly with HP about the reported V8.4 features around IP clustering, and also around whether HP will investigate and support your particular configuration in your thousand-kilometer range.
hi everyone thanks for all the support I have got from this forum !

we have the multi-site cluster already running and we have LAYER 2 connectivity between sites and now I am going to test the same on the simulated LAYER 2 link as LAYER 2 link cost is a eye catcher in the board room.

could someone tell that ::
what is the max distance limit for having multi-site vms cluster

and if someone know or hp has some recommendation for the inter-site link
like the latency of link and what network technologies are supported for inter-site link

in this configuration we will also have a satellite node booting over the WAN please help
with the guidelines and recommendation if you know.

if we succeed to boot and have multi-site cluster on simulated link our next step is to try this on larger distance maybe more then 1000 KM.

thanks
Bjay
For multi site clusters start with the wise words of Keith Parris
http://www2.openvms.org/kparris/

From the VMS SPD
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/ovms_v831h1_spd.pdf

"It provides a highly integrated OpenVMS computing
environment that is distributed over multiple systems,
separated in distance measured from feet up to
500 miles, containing up to 96 nodes."

Generally for long distance clusters HP like to get their Disaster Tolerant Cluster Services people involved.

e.g see
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/journal/v8/openvms_journal.pdf
and
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/availability/index.html

Bjay,

If you're dealing with the kind of budgets that are required for this kind of system, PLEASE don't go all cheap on your support needs and base it on the chance comments of a bunch of guys somewhere out in the ether.

You NEED to get proper, formal (and yes, PAID FOR!) support. No it won't be cheap, but as you must be aware "Free advice is worth every cent".

Go talk to Disaster Tolerant Cluster Services, as suggested by Ian.
