Here r some tools which might help you, create a dr doc buy installing and running the tools, reports can be generated with a complete list of licenses, autogen setting, etc.. Makes it a little easier then having to do this stuff manually.

System monitoring & errlog decoding/analysis tools:
1. WEBES (WEBased Enterprise Services) V4.3-2 (supported on V7.2-2 & higher)
- contains SEA (System Event Analyzer) & CCAT (Computer Crash Analysis Tool). This tool is used monitor, analyze & decode system error log

-used to decode & monitor errors on older VAX & Alpha servers.
Still an excellent tool for decoding disk and tape errors for all Alphaservers, but cannot decode cpu/memory errors on ES, DS, or GS

note that a service obligation of some sort is required i.e service contract or warrenty for the system on which you run these tools.

Hi,

actually I think the only one of these tools you do >>not<< need a service contract for is
DECevent. And if you do run 7.3-2 and above
anal/error/elv can be used to analyze the error file again locally withour further tools (Hurray!)

Hi,

I am wondering :
HP wants the engineers installing EVA's for HP in the ABSP programme to start installing WEBES etc.
In the past HP installed ISEE etc after i had finfished the installation.
I am wondering if need both WEBES and ISEE ? or does WEBES have some way of going out with the events it has collected ?

this does not match what we were told recently in by hp. As far as I understood them ISEE is the "going forward" product.

ISEE is the transport used by WEBES to contact hp so both are needed on newer alphaservers.

Decevent will require a service contract of sorts unless you get a permanent license. Our support contract allows us to renew the license each year we have silver support.

ISEE is a replacement for DNS Link ( Call Home ). There are 2 kinds, standard ( need fw access ) and Advanced , which allows for porxy server config.

DECevent comes with Alpha VMS 7.3 and 7.3-x. A separate license pak is not needed. However, DECevent does need to be installed after installing Alpha VMS 7.3 or 7.3-1 to be able to use the DIAGNOSE commnand. It is probably the same for 7.3-2.

Victor,

a valid DECevent license PAK is required for analysis and notification (i.e. running the DECevent_node process). If you just want to translate the binary contents of ERRLOG.SYS (using $ DIAGNOSE/...), you do not need a valid license PAK.

...except that with 7.3-2, you don't need DECevent any more (if you only use it to translate errorlog entries) because it comes with an "error log viewer":
