(it means its your turn to be visted by the Bad News Fairy :-)

Basically its usually a hardware error unless the tape you loaded is incompatabile with the drive (like loading a DLT IIIXT in a TK87 drive).

What sort of drive and tape is it?

There may be useful information in the error log.

It's an SDLT tape. When i do a sho dev, this is the output I get

any recent entries in the error log for that tape drive?

Is the cleaning light on the for the tape drive ?
