Have just upgraded to OVMS 7.3-2.

Previous behavior:
Using FTP if destination file in a "GET" was not a legal VMS name such as a.b.c an attempt was made to create a legal VMS name such as A_B_.C

New 7.3-2 behavior:
File is delivered to FILE.TXT.

It is possible that during the OS upgrade we lost some controlling parameters. Is there a logical or something else that controls thsi behaviour.

Hi Paul,

Just tried to FTP from a 7.3-1 box with ODS-5 disks to a 7.3-2 box with ODS-2 disks using "GET a.b.c", and I got teh file A_B.C in my directory. What version of TCP/IP are you running?

Regards,
Kris (aka Qkcl)
What version TCPIP services are you on?
Did you upgrade TCPIP when you upgraded OpenVMS? Did you apply TCPIP patches?

Thanks for the response. Problem is in the other direction - when I try to pull a file from anywhere to a bad file name on 7.3-2

On a 7.3-2 machine
get anyfile a.b.c
ends up in FILE.TXT.

I have spoken to the networking team and there is an elevation regarding similar behavior. You might want to log a call or keep an eye out for ecos.
