Unlike many of you, answering OpenVMS questions is my job. However, participation in this forum isn't really in my job description - indeed, in some ways it's perceived as competition. If people can get answers from me here, why would they pay for a service contract?

Don't forget... "Free advice is worth every cent".

So, it's a fine balance. To keep it up, I need to be able to demonstrate to management that it's worthwhile, and doesn't interfere with my "real" job. Bigger hats are quite effective at that ;-)
