Geir,

before changing the local hostname, you might need to delete the entry from the UCX local host database:

$ UCX SET NOHOST xxx

You can also view and change the local host name with:

$ UCX SHOW CONF COMM
$ UCX SET CONF COMM/LOCAL=...

An appropriate entry (name to address) must exist in the local host db.

If you've got a crash, provide the CLUE$OUTPUT:CLUE$LAST_node.LIS file (as a .TXT attachment) and we'll have a look at the crash.

Volker.

I have installed TCP/IP software and license on my system. If I run command ucx ping ip-address, everything seems to be ok, but if I execute telnet, the system make a core dump, and crash.

When I ran the setup script for UCX, I gave the system ewa0, as hostname. I'm not sure, but, the best is to replace the name with a new one.

I have alos executed ucx$config.com, without success. I hope someof you have comments.

Thanks

It would be helpful to know the VMS and UCX versions, but did I understand, that you named the host EWA0, which is normally the 1st ethernet device?
I would choose another hostname then.

regards Kalle

Hi,

Maybe the best would be to remove the ucx-package. I tried to install the software again, but the config-file still remain.

What is the script/command to rekome the ucx package?

Thanks

Geir,

there is no command to remove VMS-installable kits expect to restore your system disk backup taken before the installation.

Removal and re-installation of kits is NOT the OpenVMS way of doing things !

I also do not believe, that the local host name (even if it's EWA0) has anything to do with the crash.

Volker.

Volker,

I executed following commands

1) $ UCX SET NOHOST xxx.
2) @ucx$config
3) reboot

and now it seems to be ok. I'm not sure what the reason was, but now both IP and decnet is running.

Geir
