topic console manager disk overhead in Operating System - OpenVMS

Using CA console manager, when we archive the log files to the archive directory, it works fine, but the logfiles retain the large allocation so we have 10,000 block files now that dir/siz/all says need 1,500,000 blocks.
How can we get these files to release the overhead? set volume/rebuild=force no effect. analy/disk/repair no effect.

Have you tried
$ set file/truncate <FILENAME>
to see what happens?

It's been 3 years since I worked with Console Manager and I'm a bit rusty on what I was doing with disk space management back then.</FILENAME>

Hi,

did you consider to try SET FILE/TRUNCATE ?

Volker.

set file/truc has no effect with console manager running and the files open. I will try it later after I can shutdown console manager.
