SCOPE
This problem affects V7.3-1 systems with the VMS731-SYS-V0400 ECO kit installed.

RESOLUTION
Engineering has developed a solution for this problem. The solution will be distributed in
a follow-up ECO kit. Customers who have installed the VMS731_SYS-V0400 ECO kit
should take one of the following steps if they experience the P1 pool leak problem:

Remove the kit using the PRODUCT UNDO PATCH command. When the
replacement kit is available it should be installed. The replacement kit will contain
the contents of the VMS731_SYS-V0400 kit as well as the fix for the P1 pool leak.

A possible workaround for this problem is to raise the value of CTLPAGES to allow
more pool for processes. CTLPAGES should be raised by 2048 pages. This
workaround will not solve the problem but may allow processes to continue to run.

Engineering has developed a preliminary fix for this problem. If you experience
the P1 pool leak problem, installation of this engineering image will correct it. The
file containing this fix is available from your service representative.

VMS731_SYS-V0500 is out now which fixes this.

I've now seen a customer advisory for the original security problem and the memory leak.
