Hm, doesn't ring a bell which company this is, sorry. Never mind.

I know IP is almost everywhere, but with these address switches, you are changing the SCSI address/ID, not the IP address.

You don't say what tape drive is involved. Sometimes you can change the address of the drive, scan for the new address and be in business again.

DEC used to have a program that can clear the ownership (available through customer support), but it is always a higher risk, because the system can have an inconsistent state in some other data structures as well and may involuntarily reboot (crash) at a later time.

Hi Uwe,

known name, I've seen your name in some of our command procedures. So nice to hear from you.

Sorry, I forgot the type of tape drive. It is a TZ887 and I have OpenVMS 7.3-1

Regards,

Kirsten

Hm, can you tell the name of a command procedure?

You can change the address ID as described in the manual. I've attached a link to the manual as these things sometimes disappear over times ;-)

http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/updates/tz887/tu-tz887.pdf

Hi Uwe,

I will try my very best by changing the IP-address.

By the way, your name is in very "normal" procedures like sylogicals.com, systartup_vms.com and lat$systartup.com

Regards,

Kirsten

Hi,

sorry, this happens when you are doing too many things at the same time.

After I've seen that our tape drive looks quite different from the documentary I've requested a reboot. I think that this is the best solution.......

By the way, think of Stockstadt/Main

Regards,

Kirsten

Yes, I understand. Even after all these years it happens to me as well if I try to do 5+ things at the same time ;-)

Thanks, that rings a bell. Well, it rings many bells and a lot of memories...
Please say 'hello' if anybody from the old gang is still present.
