Backup tape retrial time~

Hi all

in the SYSBAK.COM, there is a parameter about the retry times if no free tape in the drive.

my question is how long will it take for the drive to wait for a free tape in one time?

That would be the SYSBAK.COM that is part of the SLS Backup system, as opposed to the default VMS Backup environment.

Are you running SLS or ABS?

As I recall, the default settings are three retries, and 15 minutes between them.

we use SLS here :)

it's also 5 mins for one time as you said ?

Don't know if I understand your problem. According to the SLS V2.9 Operations Guide. You can define a symbol

$ QUICKLOAD_RETRIES == 80 ! to be the length of time a volume mount is retried.

the parameter you said is to define the retry times, not length of time :)

so my question is the length of each time when it retry:p

In my TAPESTART there is a comment before the definition of QUICKLOAD_RETRIES
$! Number of times to retry an automount (approximately 20 seconds each)

are you sure "(approximately 20 seconds each)" is there? i cannot find this attached in my SYSBAK.TEMPLATE :)

if so, i doubt this number.
because, in my settings, the times is "80"
80*20=1600 sec = 26 min
but i actually test for more than 45 mins...
