Hello

I have a DS15 factory installed with Vms 8.2 and a HP Ultrium 960.

I would like to see this tape as mkb500, but I wonder if it is possible.

Vms does not "see" this tape, under
>>>
or after a Vms boot (f$device("*","tape",,) returns blank).

Unlike with a DLT 8000 or a SDLT 320, I do not see how I modify the SCSI address of a Ultrium 960.
According to some info on the HP site, this Ultrium works fine with Vms 7 or 8.2

Thanks for any hint.

Gerard

On the doc CD (HP StorageWorks Ultrium tape drives), it says
file:///D|/install/eng/230460m.pdf
for the removable model (mine)

That I put the required SCSI address by selecting the number at the back.
At the back, I had a white plastic, which was just hiding a hole :-(

As it may help others

I need a LVD -> HVD converter

see

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/emea/presalessupport/downloads/3X-DWZCV-BA_HVD_LVD_Converters.pdf

http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/options/asds15/asds15_15_73_options.html#OptListHead

So, are you saying that you connected an LVD
drive to an HVD bus? Sometimes those little
details, like what you connect to what, can
make a difference.

Yes.

I connected what was supposed to be a working configuration, and as I have a lot of others DS15 to "build" (disks in MSA30, tape...) I have not bothered to check.

It seems I am the only one on earth to try to use a Ultrium 960 with Vms :-(

> It seems I am the only one [...]

Everyone else probably connected his to a
single-ended bus, which would probably work.
LVD devices tend to be pretty flexible, but
they don't bend so far as HVD,
counterintuitive as that may be.
