The official HP software version requirements are available in the software rollout report:

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/os/swroll/

If that helps any. You can look up what versions you have there, and see which are supported on what range.

There are cases where older versions are not listed as supported, and that can be for any of various reasons. These older versions might or might not work.

And as for random products, OpenVMS Alpha V8.2 is not a classic major release from version V7.*, as compared with -- for instance -- the upgrade from V6.2 or V6.2-1H3 to V7.0. V7.0 was a classic major release, as various tracts of the kernel were shuffled around or were extended.

Regardless of the major upgrade discussion, if your site should need or waht formal version certifications, then the Software Rollout Report (swroll) is your version list.

Stephen Hoffman
HoffmanLabs

We're going from OpenVMS Version 7.3-2 to 8.3 (or 8.2 if Oracle 10gR2) isn't certified on 8.3. We're running the following Advanced Server, ABS, and MDMS Versions. I'm wondering if I can go to Ovms 8.2 or 8.3 without upgrading Advanced Server and/or ABS MDMS.

PWRK$MASTER V7.3-120A 9-OCT-2003 06:59 A11-20
ABS SYS$LIBRARY:ABS$SHR.EXE is ABSV3.2A(278)
MDMS Shareable Image Version: V3.2A(391)

Thanks, Jeff
You can stay with the same version of Advanced Server but you will have to reinstall it.

I went from 7.3-1 to 8.2 running Advanced Server 7.3A2.
