The OpenVMS I64 installation and upgrade manual covers the specific EFI-level (Extensible Firmware Interface) details you need to know to get OpenVMS installed and going on the box. (Start at http://www.hp.com/go/openvms/doc/ and weave your way to the OpenVMS V8.3 documentation.)

The associated Integrity server owner's guide covers the core stuff for your particular box, beyond what is covered in the OpenVMS I64 installation manual. These are available at the Integrity server support pages. (Start at http://www.hp.com/go/server and weave your way to the support information for your particular Integrity box.)

The EFI command set and the user interfaces (yes, plural) are both powerful and cryptic and -- among the EFI shell prompt and the menus of baseboard management and the POSSE stuff and the management processor (MP) interfaces -- unfortunately also somewhat disjoint.

Stephen Hoffman
HoffmanLabs LLC

Hoff nailed it. "Powerful and cryptic"

The EFI menu(es) are the replacement for the SRM. We ran into an issue with network duplex - we normally hard code it at the >>> prompt. Had to instead set it hard coded with the mc lancp tool.

Once you get an OS loaded - also run
@sys$manager:boot_options.
You can then easily capture and add the available boot options. Remember to setup an option to "minimum boot".
