Hi there,

Try as I might but I can not figure out what your mean with "CP" in the title.
Please explain what it stands for?

Google on CP_stop / CP_start does not generate any hits either. Are those private procedures or did they come with an application or piece of hardware? Which?

Judging be the error messages reported, like Ian I suspect something with the network infrastructure. Your other questions in this forum this could be the case. Is this for a computer lab / classroom setup?

fwiw,
Hein.
Hi

i have 4 online DS10 and 3 spare DS10 with 466MH, 256 RAM and all running openVMS 7.3-1.
Problems occur when remote PCs complaint respond slow and the CP was display : buffer leak and incorrect CRC. i tried to issue command CP_stop and CP_start again. But the problem stil occured.

my questions are:

1. what was the factor cause?
2. what command should i issue when the problem occur?
3. does the problem cause by network busy, RAM or CPU speed insufficient?
4. does this cause by application layer

Thanks

There is not really enough data in your question but as a wild guess if that incorrect CRC was related to network traffic I would look at your network.

Are you routinely collecting performance data on your VMS system ?

Hi,

CP (Communications Processor) is a name for us to call the equipment of DS10, and CP_stop or CP_stop is for us to command the DS10 either the system start or stop in "sys$sysdevice".

I had checked the error.log and the operation.log in the DS10, but no fault found.

Network utilization was 10% during problem occured. the rest DS10 stil running.

My company is one of the lottery company.

Thanks

Jason

I would :

1) check with ftp between PC en VMS if performance is reasonable (while PC's are compalining)
2) check tcp and IP counters for abnormal things (post ucx sho prot if you don't know how to do it).
3) find what changed. New network hardware that is badly configured ?
4) find the producer of the program you are running and find out what the message means (I didn't find any buffer leak VMS messages in the message catalogs)

Wim
