      <title>Enterprise Capacity Planner</title>

      <description>I need some advise on ECP.&lt;BR /&gt;From the ECP Analyzer Report, the beginning portion shows some informations on the system.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There is one which says "CPU TYPE". Can I have some advise what does this indicates?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My customer has two ES45 with the same configurations except one with 4 CPUs and the other with 2 CPUs.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The report from the system with 2 CPUs shows 1976 and the other with 4 CPUs shows 1978.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Below is a sample output,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Node Name           : CSCD81&lt;BR /&gt;CPU Type            : 1976 &lt;BR /&gt;OS                  : OpenVMS &lt;BR /&gt;Active Processes    : 51&lt;BR /&gt;Total Memory        : 2048 MBytes&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Ronny</description>

      <description>Ronny,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My sources are telling me that the number appears to be the SMM (System Marketing Number) of the system.  Not sure yet if VMS is returning this or if ECP is maintaining a table.  The SMM uniquely identifies each hardware system that is made.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I believe that this number was more important to ECP when the data collected was to be fed into the now retired modeling tools for Capacity Planning.  That tool needed to know configuration such a the number of CPUs and the number of backplane slots.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Todd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;P.S.  While the modeling tool is offically retired by HP, the decendant of the tool lives on with PERFCAP.  They licensed the code as of retirement and continue to evolve and improve the tool.
