Big SYS$QUEUE_MANAGER.QMAN$JOURNAL

Hello
There is one old system with SYS$QUEUE_MANAGER.QMAN$JOURNAL that is 2 GB in size!
OS is 7.1 (non clustered) on AS1200.
I know that regular procedure would be:
JBC$COMMAND> diag 7
But it may not reduce file size enough.
Machine has 10 running printer queues (that print a lot).
I also know that good solution would be to create new queue manager and recreate queues.
Is there a better way?
What would happen if I just delete that file (from stand alone CD boot)?
What would happen with queues?

Just did it and lost all scheduled entries. The queues are still intact. Had to stop/id the queue manager 2 times after the stop/que/man.

Thanks for reply.
Scheduled entries are not important, but queues are.
I wanted to delete a file from stand alone boot but (from your reply) looks like it is possible to do it without stand alone boot?
Am I right?

Yes.
I did
$ stop/que/man
$ stop/id=
$ stop/id=
$ delete ...
$ start/que/man

I rebooted just know and everything is ok.
Not a cluster !
