Hi,

I have a rx2620. I cannot get the console to get to the menu to allow a boot of VMS. Each time I select CO it sjust display live console log.
There is nothing displayed from then.

I was trying to get the other port working as the console and I have unfortunately appeared to have stopped both consoles.

Any help appreciated.

thanks,

Paul

What connection method are you using?
- Three-headed dongle plus serial line directly connected to dumb terminal? Serial line concentrator? Terminal emulator?
- Tcpi-ip connection to console? Web interface?

Anyway, the basic connection works, because up can type the 'co' and see the log right?

Can the console be in 'hold screen mode' ( ^S ) ?
Tried ^Q (and ^C, ^Y, ^T... ^P ?)

Does it clear up on reboot?

fwiw,
Hein.

Its connected to a dumb VT terminal on the serial port of the system.

Usually when I type CO this gives options to boot etc, but all I receive now is live console.

I have tried restting and switching off/on but no luck.

Regards,

Paul

Paul,

If you connect a network cable to the iLO port to a ethernet switch, it should automatically get an IP address from a DHCP server on powerup/connection. Once it does that check the DHCP reservations and see what the IP address is. Use telnet to connect to the iLO port and it should give you more functionality than the serial line will give you. When you reboot the server you will see the EFI boot menu and can then do what you need to do with it.

Phil

Paul,

if your rx2620 is equipped with a MP (management processor), you should type CTRL-B to get back to the MP menue, which will allow you to log in on OPA0:. Then shutdown OpenVMS (with reboot) and you'll get to the EFI boot manager menue during restart.

Volker.

Ok thanks for the replies. I may not have explained clearly.

I cannot get the menu to appear that allows me to boot VMS. This is the menu that appears to allow to boot from different areas for examples DVD INTERNAL boot.
I used to go to CO and then the menu would appear but now it just sits in live console and nothing displays.

I am really stuck here as I have tried everything.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

your picture shows the EFI Boot Manager menu.

Does your rx2660 have an MP processor installed ? If so, connect the '3-way cable' to the MP port and connect your terminal (or laptop with terminal emulator) to the connector marked Console.

Login to the MP - Username: Admin, default Password: Admin. Then you should see the MP Menue:

To power-on the machine, go to CM -> pc -on
Then type CTRL-B to go back to the MP Main Menue and type CO to switch to the console. You should see the system init messages followed by the EFI Boot Manager menue.

Volker.
