Williem has the correct answer.

The DNS configuration sets some parameters for how the BIND name server and resolver work. There is another part of the configuration for the name server that involves customizing TCPWARE_NAMED_ROOT:NAMED.CONF

Hi,

Please let me know how can I configure DNS settings and Domain Name on Tcpware V5.3-2.

I have tried using :

$ @TCPWARE:CNFNET DNS
TCPware(R) for OpenVMS Version 5.0-3B Network Configuration procedure for:

TCP/IP Services: NetWare Services:
FTP-OpenVMS FSS-OpenVMS
NFS-OpenVMS Client NPS-OpenVMS
NFS-OpenVMS Server TES-OpenVMS
SMTP-OpenVMS
TELNET-OpenVMS
Kerberos Services

This procedure helps you define the parameters needed to get TCPware
running on this system.

This procedure creates the configuration data file,
TCPWARE:TCPWARE_CONFIGURE.COM, to reflect your system's configuration.

The Domain Name Services (DNS) can not be configured because the
official host-domain name is not a full domain name.

If you want to use the Domain Name Services, you must run the
configuration again and specify the host's full domain name as the
official host-domain name for this host.

Do you want to restart the Domain Name Services [NO]: n

Do I need to configure tcp settings and restart the services ?

Thanks

What you would need to do is define a full qualified name.
"MyNode" won't do. "Mynode.Mycomp.Tld" would. "Mynode.Subdomain.Mycomp.myTld"" will as well.

BTW: TCPWARE is mainatined by Process.com an they may be able that question fast :) if you put it on their forum: http://forums.process.com/forum/Blah.pl?b-tcpware/

Willem
