Hello,
There should be a logical called mom$load defined to the directory where wweng1 is located. Sho log mom$load.

You should be able to find this file on the CD layred product distribution. If take any one of the CDs and run cdmenu, it will tell what disc and directory it is on. I think there are instructions on how to properly load mom$load. I'm checking my systems to see if I have it. I sold my DECserver 700s years ago, so I vaguely remember this. I'll check my systems to see if I still have. If so, I'll get back with you on the correct definition of mom$load.

We still have a decserver 700 which needs to load its software (wweng1) from the host. We have a alphaserver ds25 running 7.3-2 which went online about a year ago. We had a power outage this morning, and the ds 700 has been unable to load its software (something that it was able to do from our old vax which was replaced by the alpha) there is a 3 and 4 alternating in the status window on the ds700.

The module wweng1.sys is in DKA0:[VMS$COMMON.DECSERVER]. It is 1156 blocks and I believe was copied from a vax (don't know if that was correct or not).

mc latcp show service shows:
Service Name Status Identification ---------------- ----------- -------------------------------------------------
alpha2 Available Welcome to OpenVMS (TM) Alpha Operating System, Version V7.3-2

Must be missing something on the alpha to broadcast the software...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you seeing any OPCOM messages showing
that the terminal server is requesting a
download?
One of the following might be helpful in configuring and troubleshooting this:

http://64.223.189.234/node/183 : Phase IV NCP
http://64.223.189.234/node/234 : Phase V NCL
http://64.223.189.234/node/233 : Via LANCP

And for the folks working with other DECserver devices and needing the names of the other load files:

http://64.223.189.234/node/232

The ancient DEC ConDist kits had DS7C011 and other such kits. (They're just savesets, and can either be installed, or you can dig the firmware image out of the kit via BACKUP and configure the files and the download manually per the above URLs.) The ConDist is one potential source of the (older) WWENG1.SYS firmware file. The "newer" DNAS firmware is the WWENG2.SYS firmware file. One or both of these files might well be available for download around the Internet (check http://www.dnpg.com, etc), but IIRC there were minimum terminal server memory requirements if you were looking to use the DNAS bits in WWENG2.SYS.

Stephen Hoffman
HoffmanLabs LLC
