On a VMScluster consisting of several nodes, DCSC must be installed
on each node requiring access to the Sun StorageTek[TM] library server.
DCSC on one node must be configured as the Master server. The DCSC Mas-
ter server fields requests from the other nodes on the VMScluster, which
are called DCSC Virtual server nodes. Communication between DCSC Mas-
ter and Virtual server nodes is via DECnet. Communication between the
DCSC Master server node and the Sun StorageTek[TM] library server is
via HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS.

I guess that your master server must have lost it's decnet object. So, restart it.

Wim

Not knowing Tapesys, I would assume, that it wants to talk to its counterpart on a remote node (perhaps a server where the tape resides).
I would check the installation and errorlogs on this node.

regards Kalle

Hi Umesh,
Please send us how u r taking backup. Surely some object is missing in remote node. If u r taking backup by running some product( like sls), then restart that service may help.

Cheers,
Deb

Backup tool : Tapesys 6.1
Tape library: configured in SUN server.
OVMS : 7.3-2
Thru scheduler backup submitted and allocated drive/tape library from SUN server. between VMS and SUN there is one more tool DCSC. I can access drive/tape library and able to take backup listing and file restoration. i have last option is restart the tapesys/DCSC.

Did this ever work? Have you called Software Partners for support? You are running a relatively old version of TAPESYS. Version 6.2.3 is current.

Bill
