Hi,

I have an Alphaserver 800 that runs OpenVMS. Recently the system has become inoperable. When I power the system on, there is no display on the graphics or serial consoles.

I do hear 7 beeps in the sequence:-

1 12 1234

If anyone can shed some light on what this sequnce means and what the error could be it would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks
Andrew

When I GOOGLE the exact subject line, the first hit is:

http://download.majix.org/dec/Alphaserver800_service.pdf

Table 2-1 Interpreting Error Beep Codes (continued)
1-2-4
Backup cache error.
Replace the CPU daughter board (Chapter 7).
The system can be operated with the B-cache disabled until a replacement CPU daughter board is available. Bank 1 of the J1 jumper
on the CPU daughter board is used to disable the B-cache. Refer to Appendix A.

Hein.
