Error for VMS agent while adding server in HP Storage essential

I added one VMS agent in CMS ( Central Management server) i.e HP Storage Essential 6.0 . After adding server in Storage essential I execute discovery option but it failed. I have attached TEST discovery logs alongwith this.

Please suggest what is the exact error with this.

hi,

have you read the storage essentials guide for openvms and storage essentials, there are quite a number of requirements e.g eco's, os versions and network ports to be satisfied. check that first and come back if there is still an issue.

Yes, I have the same documen and followed all the instruction.

Did you get any clue from the test discovery result.

HI,

have you checked on the vms box that it is listening on the ports mentioned in the guide netstat -a will list them up,is there a firewall in the way, can you telnet port nnnn (where nnnn is agent port) from the hp sim server to the vms box ?

I tried telnet server_name 4673 and its working fine. I am able to connect telnet HP SE server using the default port .

Also just to check I tried port 1234 was not connecting.

Is there any other tool or steps through which we can check connectivity between these two.

hi,

i would check the storage essentials logs on the vms server as stated in the guide, use the status command file provided for the agent status and also cross check the contents of your parameter file with the discovery options you are using on the sim server.

May I know what was done by your VMS team? I have the similar situation with OVMS 8.3 where OVMS says agent is running but SE says can't find the CIM status.
